Explore Russia 2011

This morning, I got up at 5:30am and called our tour guide--Peng from Beijing. I took the subway. The depth of the underground and art taste of subway station is really impressive. I checked the local people to tell me which stop I should get off because therer is no English at all, not like Beijing and Shanghai where you can see English everywhere. After getting off the subway, I landed on ground, and tried hard to get a taxi. In Russia, I seldom saw some real taxi. After about five minutes, an old car stopped by me so I walked to i and decided on 250 Roubles. ( I already learned from Fan that there is not a lot realy taxi, just some private cars and also there is machine to tell you how much you should be charged and you just negotiate with him about the price ). In the so-called taxi, I borrowed the driver's cellphone to make a phone call to Peng, but no answer. Anyway, we got to the restaurant where we were supposed to meet together to start the Russia tour. I paid the driver 300 Roubles because he told me he has no change. Then I met all the tour group including my dad. We had a quick breakfast and started our tour. The first stop is Moscow Universty. The main building, also the landmark, reminded me of the main building of University of Pittsbury although is more splendid than the latter. Then we also overlooked Moscow city. While the city is huge, the skyline is no more than a third tier city in USA or China, like Stamford or Changzhou, etc. Peng said there is almost not some new building within the past 30 years. After the university, we drove to a very beautiful and peaceful small town in the outskirt of the huge capital. That town is famous for religious practice (Dongzheng Jiao). The church is really gorgeous, different from most church in America. The big difference between Western and Eastern religious practice is in Western people use candle everywhere while in Eastern countries people use Xiang (inscent). Peng said Russian people really don't know how to count number very well and that's why a lot of places is so inefficient such as the ticket window or scenery entrance and I kind of felt that. Lunch is Russian food, all Chinese young people think it's Okay, but older people are not used to it. In the evening, after a Chinese dinner, we went to watch Russian dance show. Their dance are very professional and the costume are very colorful, especially red and green, reflecting the history of the great nation and I found Ruissan people are extremely energetic and passionate on the stage which is a little different from real life. Then we went to back the hotel which is much worse than my first night because I know tour company need to make money. The most amazing part is the elevator, which I think is the smallest hotel evelator I ever lived. But the bed room is very special, kind of like the old Chinese hotel with the communism style 30 years ago before China's reform. Anyway, it's not bad to live in the hotel.
